about
This song is about the strange, unprecedented perils with which we were forced to grapple during the Tr*mp era.
It addresses the denial, passivity and apathy that put us in this predicament, and our subsequent constant inundation with alarming news broadcasts portraying his horrifying actions and demeaning words. It touches on our government's dismissal and belittlement of climate change in favor of preserving capital gain and that orange monster's unrelenting attempts to monger fear and reinforce the division in our country.
But above all else, it's a song about resilience and unity - about overcoming what divides us, focusing on our shared humanity, and recognizing that we can and will persist to "make it through another day".
I'm releasing this song on election day, one year after the closing of this horrendous chapter in American History, to signify a new period of hope, togetherness, conscientiousness, and compassion. Although there is still a tremendous amount of work to be done, it sure feels good to have the Sherbet Man out of the White House.
lyrics
Greet the day in the same old clothes
Stretch my arms back and squinch my nose
Pull the shades to reveal fresh snow
Seven inches all while my eyes were closed...
A lot can happen when our eyes are closed.
Lay some layers upon my back
Wet my whistle with coffee black
Skim the news worth a heart attack
Try to process and find the grace I lack...
Gonna write a song to bring my conscience back.
CHORUS:
These days it's hard to maintain
Any semblance of contentment while the world drops down the drain
Every morning starts out much the same
Yet somehow we all make it through another day
Watch the planet on which we stand
Crumble while we pretend it can't
Listening to the Sherbet Man
Monger fear like a puppeteer with his tiny hands...
And a captivated audience.
Start a rampage, BUILD THAT WALL!
U.S.A. don't mean U.S. All
Who needs mountains when we've got malls?
Who needs trees? We'll just breathe in our complacency...
And wash it down with cash and alcohol.
CHORUS:
These days it's hard to maintain
Any semblance of contentment while the world drops down the drain
Every morning starts out much the same
Yet somehow we all make it through another day
Let's all take a stand
And tell this tiny man
We're not so different after all
Or better yet, let's show him
There's a hell of a lot of us my friends
The call to fight is beckoning
Let's be a force to reckon with
We're limitless...
And he's so small.
